The annual 500 Summer Challenge was held on the weekend of 23/24/25 November 2007. This year 18 teams competed in the 500km road running relay race that started with the first runners flagged off at 4.45am from the Helensvale Plaza Shopping Centre at the Gold Coast.

There were major changes in the route this year, because the regional traffic coordinator for the Southern Region would not issue permits for events like this to use main roads like the Pacific, Cunningham, Warrego and New England Highways due to the increasing volume of heavy and passenger vehicles on these roads.

The event took runners from Helensvale to Canungra, Beaudesert, Rathdowney and Boonah on Friday, then Mt Alford, Killarney, Warwick and Greenmount on Saturday and Toowoomba, Gatton and Ma Ma Creek before finishing at Lake Apex Park, Gatton at 1.30 on Sunday afternoon.

This year two teams entered under the Endeavour Foundation banner with staff and their family, friends and some supported workers making up the team runners.

$110,050.62 was raised this year, a record amount for the 500 Summer Challenge, with Team Endeavour second highest fundraiser $11,742 and Ergon Endeavour fourth highest fundraiser $7982.

The highest Fundraising trophy was presented to the Stratco Team, who, with the help of Jonah's Endeavour Ride in March this year, raised $30,987.62.

Competition was fierce with the top 2 teams attracting runners from Sydney, Melbourne and various part of Queensland. Team Telstra came out on top relegating Gold Coast based Team Victory to second place for the first time in 5 years.

The Ergon Endeavour team was awarded the Team Spiriter Award. A great effort on their first year in the competition.
