The annual 500 Summer Challenge was held on the weekend of 21/22/23 November from Beenleigh Showgrounds, with 16 teams competing.

The event took runners from Beenleigh to Beaudesert, Rathdowney and Boonah on Friday, then Yangan, Killarney, Warwick and Greenmount on Saturday and Toowoomba, Gatton,and Lowood before finishing in Fernvale at 1.30 on Sunday afternoon.

The runners and support crews were welcomed to Fernvale by the Mayor of Somerset Regional Council, Cr Graeme Lehmann who helped present the trophies. It was announced that $79,597 was raised this year to support Endeavour Foundation’s quest to provide opportunities for people with disabilities. The Highest Fundraising trophy was presented to the Endeavour Team who raised $10,427.

Competition was fierce with the two top teams attracting runners from Melbourne, Adelaide .and various parts of Queensland. The Gold Coast’s Team Victory came out on top relegating last year’s winner, Team Telstra, to second place.

The Russelll’s Bushies team was awarded the Team Spiriter Award.

• Handicap Trophy Winner: Team Endeavour
